Taking theological education to students across the globe, Cedarville Universityis launching a fully online Bachelor of Arts in biblical and theological studies. This new online formatted program will equip students for faithful gospel ministry wherever God has placed them.
This new program — which begins in Jan. 2026 —reflects Cedarville’s commitment to academic excellence and biblical faithfulness while expanding access to students who are unable to relocate to campus. The degree is ideally suited for international students, those already serving in local church ministries or individuals seeking flexible options to pursue ministry training.
Tuition is $375 per credit hour — making it one of the most affordable online options among Christian universities. Online students also receive full support, including access to academic resources, career counseling, library services and IT help.
“Cedarville Onlineexists to serve students who find it difficult to relocateto our campus in Ohio,” said Dr. Trent Rogers, dean of the Cedarville University School of Biblical and Theological Studies. “We believe this program is well suited for online learners, and that it’s the best online biblical and theological studies degree program available.”
Unlike Cedarville’s residential Bible programs, which include concentrations in missions and biblical counseling, the online degree offers a broader foundation. Rogers noted that while the online version does not include concentrations, students can move directly into Cedarville’s online Master of Theological Studies (MTS), which offers tracks in ministry, biblical counseling, worship and theology and biblical leadership.
The online curriculum includes more theological studies courses than the on-campus Bible program—hence the distinction in name: the residential Bachelor of Arts in biblical studiesversus the online Bachelor of Arts in biblical and theological studies.
While both formats maintain Cedarville’s theological depth and academic integrity, they serve different student needs. Residential students can study biblical languages and have a direct path into Cedarville’s residential Master of Divinity. Online students, meanwhile, benefit from a more flexible format that integrates seamlessly with the online MTS program.
Cedarville’s online undergraduate degrees are part of the growing Cedarville Onlineinitiative, which aims to deliver the university’s transformative undergraduate experience to students around the world. Other fully online majors include accounting, communication, finance, IT management, and more.
“Ultimately,” said Rogers, “this is about preparing more people to know theBible, love the church and proclaim the gospel.”
