Serving others with intentionaltionalityhas led to a prestigious national award for Susan Troth, associate professor of worship at Cedarville University. Troth waspresented thePresidentialLifetimeAchievementAwardfor community service by Americorps.The award ceremonywason Saturday, Dec. 14 in Atlanta,Georgia.

She received a certificate at the ceremony and will soon receive an official letter of congratulations from President Joe Biden.

This awardsignifies4,000 or more hours of qualified community serviceandis the highesthonorgiven.Troth’s service includes mentoring young leaders, supporting missions locally and internationally andproviding assistance toworship ministries worldwide.This summer,she will lead a mission trip to Germany,andsheplans to expand her volunteer efforts in retirementas she publishes a book,“Stressed to 'S.P.L.E.S.S.E.D.'”for women struggling with personal loss.

Having grown up ina familydedicatedto community service,volunteer work came naturally toTroth.Herservice to othersbegan inhigh school,whenshe organized a youthchoir for her church,layinga foundation for alifetimeofinvesting inothers.

Over the years,Troth’simpact has reached beyond music.As apastor’swife for 31 years, she supporteddisaster relief efforts and ministered to individuals in grief after becoming a widow herself.

“Volunteeringiswoven into the fabric of my life,”saidTroth. “I loveinvesting inothers,andI’mexcited to continue serving in new ways,especiallyas I prepare for retirement.As followers of Jesus, we never retire from serving others and investing in the kingdom of Christ.”
