Music has the power to unite peopleacross generations.National recording artistsKeith and Kristyn Getty understandthatpower,andtheyhave picked thebest in the music industry to create a one-of-a-kindproject.

To help them compile songs for their new song book, “The Sing! Hymnal,” the Gettys created an advisory board, includingCedarvilleUniversity’sDr. Roger O’Neel,professor ofworship,andChad Winder,a 2006 Cedarville graduate and worship pastor at 5 Bridges Church in Panama City Beach, Florida.

“It’s an honor to have been chosen to be part of the advisory board,” said O’Neel. “When we create a hymnal, we are endorsing songs to be passed down to the next generation.”

“The Sing! Hymnal” will be released on September 2 during Keith and Kristyn Getty’s Sing 2025 Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee on September1-3. Copies will be available along with digital resources.To give attendees a preview of “The Sing! Hymnal,” songs from this new collection will be integrated throughout the conference, including during a special concert at the Grand Ole Opry House.

The Gettys sought feedback on the hymnal fromthe advisory board, including songs to be included in the book.Winder recommended writinganewversefor the Christmas classic“Come Thou Long Expected Jesus,”a suggestionKristyn Gettyembraced.“The Sing!Hymnal”preserves the hymns of generations past while also creating new hymnsfor churchestoday.Long-livedhymns like“Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing” and“Jesus Paid It All,” along withmore recenthymns like “In Christ Alone”and “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” will be found among the 496 songsincluded in thehymnal.

“I really hope that this hymnal rekindles the lovein the modern church for musicthat is rich in theology,” said Winder.

From traditional hymns to modern worship, “The Sing! Hymnal”reflects this goal as itoffersdeep theological meaning and truth tocongregations everywhere.
