by Kaylee Guetter, Student Public Relations Writer – May 16, 2024

Stories are powerful, and telling them is an art. Cedarville University students majoring in broadcasting, digital media and journalism spent their spring break helping Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) missionaries in Spain tell their stories for evangelistic purposes. The trip was part of Cedarville’s Global Outreach program that regularly sends students and faculty each year on mission trips.

Cedarville Universitystudents majoring in broadcasting, digital media and journalismspent their spring break helping Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) missionaries in Spain tell their stories for evangelistic purposes. The trip was part of Cedarville’s Global Outreachprogram that regularly sends students and faculty each year on mission trips.

The students had only a few days to film and edit six missionary testimonial videos that ABWE could use in their attempt to share the gospel.

“This tripgave students an opportunity to apply their professional skillsandsparked or rejuvenated an interest in long-term missions inmanyof them,” said Sean O’Connor, assistant professor of broadcasting, digital media and journalism, who joined students on the trip.

Seniors Elizabeth Kollmar, from Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, and Maiya Munroe, from Romeoville, Illinois, told the story ofMiguel Ángel, the pastor of a church in Alcaláde Henares, Spain. They helped him communicate thestruggles of planting a church where less than 1% of people identify as Christian.

“It was a really beneficial experience to be able to use my video skillsto make a resource for a missionary that is dedicating his life to spreading the gospel,” said Kollmar. “Now Ángel has that video to share witheveryone who is supporting him.”

The Cedarville students spent long hours filming and editing videosand learning lessons along the way.

“Hearing the stories of missionaries like Ángel, gave me a greater passion for being a light for Christ and showed me how important it is to support missionaries that are dedicating their life to spreading the gospel in dark places,” reflected Kollmar.
