Cedarville Celebrates Nurses with 2nd Annual 5K

Nurses make the difference is the theme of National Nurses Week, which is celebrated May 6–12. To honor the work of nurses, Cedarville University’s school of nursing(SON) will host the second annual 5K walk/run on Wednesday, May 8. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. on the university’s cross-country course.

The event is open to the public, and runners and walkers canregister onlineor at the event. The entry fee is $35, and all proceeds will be used to support the school of nursing global outreach missions fund that provides financial assistanceto nursing studentsfor medical missionstrips.

“Our goal for this event is to thank nurses while extending gratitude to our patients and their loved ones, recognizing the privilege we have in their lives,” saidDr. Angie Mickle, dean of the Cedarville University School of Nursing and associate professor, “I hope many people will celebrate nurses with us!”

Individuals living a distance from Cedarville can participatevirtually anytime between May 6–10.

“Participating in our 5K affords an opportunity to join in a fun and healthy activity for people of all ages, and our virtual event enables worldwide participation,” said Mickle.

The 5K will function as an extension of the SON’s “walk humbly with your God,” “interconnectedness” and “nourishing your body” (WIN) initiative. This initiative seeks to produce a culture where nurses flourish in their careers as they recognize the reality of burnout and the importance of wellness in their lives.
