Melissa Brown, professor of social work at Cedarville University, sat down with The National Desk’s Angela Brown to discuss maternal mental health.

“We want to normalize, to some level, ‘Baby Blues,’” said Brown.

Similar to postpartum depression, “Baby Blues” are feelings of sadness that arise in the first few days following childbirth. According to The National Desk, research shows 20% of new moms will suffer from mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and up to a year after giving birth.

If “Baby Blues” are common, so should be help and support.
